Starting today morning, Doordarshan National will air two episodes of Ramayana and Mahabharat every day. In the light of Coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 21 days lockdown in India. As everything has come to standstill, the decision of broadcasting ‘80s show was made. It was just yesterday that the Information and Broadcast Minister announced the rerun of mythological shows- Ramayana and Mahabharat.

As the first episode of 1987 released Ramayana was aired this morning at 9 AM, fans devotees couldn’t control their emotions and tweeted about the same. Reacting to the show a fan wrote, “Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan was not just a show but was a divine power that united crores of Hindus Its success was so huge that many seculars & liberals tried to halt its broadcasting, but FAILED. Due to the blessings of Shri Ram ppl are watching it even after 3 decades #Ramayan” Another said, “Ramayan Returns in style * Not just the first episode of Ramayan crashes the Doordarshan website due to high traffic * But also becomes the top searched in India on Google This shows the love Indians have towards Prabhu Shri Ram  #Ramayan”

A user even shared his fond memories of watching the show back then. His comment read, “Remembered watching Ramayana with whole family and neighbours who didn't have TV also used to gather. TV room used to get full. Never seen such excitement for any serial those days. #Nostalgic #Ramayan #Doordarshan”

Ramayana will be air one episode at 9 AM and another at 9 PM, while Mahabharat’s episode will air at 12 Noon and another at 7 PM.
